Global Automobile Company Increases IT Efficiency & Effectiveness
Company Profile:
One of the worlds largest automotive companies. The company manufactures and sells automobiles, trucks and parts across Europe, Asia Pacific, Africa and the Americas.
Problem Statement:
The company wanted to significantly improve all aspects of the IT organization efficiency and effectiveness. In order to improve, a multi-initiative IT transformation program involving 300 plus resources was developed and started by the CIO. Prime elements of the IT Transformation program included improving end user service, decreasing the amount of non-discretionary spend while increasing the available funds for new projects, improving the delivery of all projects, deploying the right local service delivery model, shifting the application management delivery from outsourced to offshore in sourced, rationalizing the application portfolio, and standardizing IT investment governance.
Approach:
Our management assisted as an advisor in conjunction with client teams. In our role, we used our best practice knowledge and expertise to:
- Simplify and improve the IT chargeback model
- Develop a set of KPIs / metrics that could be measured and tracked to ensure program success
- Develop a Service Delivery model strategy to best service the local (non-centralized) organizations
- Develop a future state application architecture, business driver / KPI linkage and ownership model for Control (Accounting & External Reporting, Tax Management, Compliance Management, Planning & Performance) and Human Resources applications
Results:
The deliverables positioned the company to:
- Standardize the IT Investment process for better transparency and decision making
- Consolidate the Control and HR domains in the application portfolio while serving as a catalyst for Finance and HR transformation
- Reduce IT cost while improving customer satisfaction and delivery performance
- Achieve the world class IT goal as measured by an independent 3rd party
